The Space Report: The Guide to Global Space Activity

The objective: The Space Foundation identified an industry need for a one-stop data resource on global space activities. The Space Foundation selected The Tauri Group to be the technical lead to develop a credible, authoritative publication characterizing global space activities.

The method: The Tauri Group researched, analyzed, and documented data on commercial revenues and government budgets, applications of space products and services, space infrastructure, impacts of space activities, and the outlook for the future.

The results: Analysts, decision-makers, reporters, and managers turn to The Space Report for insights into all areas of space activity. For example,

  • Satellite roles in converging media, like direct to phone satellite television (p. 100)
  • Space products that support healthcare and biotechnology (p. 92)
  • Missions of the nineteen scientific satellites launched in 2005 (p. 42)
  • Explanation of the DoD virtual Major Force Program (vMFP) for space (p. 73)
  • Technology transfer successes of the European Space Agency (p. 123)

The Space Report identifies $180 billion of commercial space revenues and government budgets, and tells you exactly what each estimate includes. It lays out the pros and cons of available data points, what data is not available, why we include each element, and where the data came from -- in 451 full citation endnotes.
